Can I uprade to S3, sell it, and reactivate my X?

I'm pretty much leaving money on the table if I don't upgrade especially given I still have my upgrade - $100 credit that I haven't used.

Can I upgrade to an S3 now and then sell it on ebay and reactivate my X and then wait for vzw to release the phone I really want?

Is there any minimum time that I have to have the S3 in my posession? Is it as simple as activating it and then a few minutes later reactivating my X or do I have to wait a few days?

I've never done anything like this, but vzw is forcing my hand.

I will *NEVER* go to their shared planned at the pricing structure they currently have. I was one asking them for the shared plan, but I assumed it would save money for those of us who aren't data hogs.

Yes, once you buy a phone its yours to do with what you like. Activate it, then just do a switch/activate device thru my Verizon. I switched back and forth between Droid X Inc and iPhone 4s countless times.

Not sure I would go the NIB route after reading the fine print on that page: "You will also need your Order Number found on your customer receipt (in your phone shipment), and last 4 digits of account holder's social security number."

Can you switch back and forth between 3G to 4G phones without issues? I thought the 4G sim cards were junk once they were deactivated and you had to get a new one from VZN. Maybe that was just early 4G issues, but not sure if it's still true.

It would be nice if you can. That way I could switch back to my DX when I knew I was going to be in a potential phone damaging environment...

I searched through the forums before starting the topic and didn't find conclusive answers, so I suspect this hasn't been discussed much.

I am not sure what happens when you deactivate a SIM card like that. I can see trying to go between a 3G and 4G phone being a bit of a pain.

As far as the NIB thing, your reciept will be inside the shipment box, but not inside the phone box. :)

So after doing some research, it appears that if you go from 4g to 3g on verizon, the sim card in the 4g device is retired at midnight EST and can never be used again.

So how much is a new sim card?

I'm guessing that anyone I sell the S3 to on ebay will need to have a new sim card. This could reduce the value of the phone substantially unless this is trivial to deal with.
