Help Can I use my 3 sim in a tablet?

IamMark74

Newbie
I'm thinking of getting a Samsung Tab S wifi 3G/4G and would like to know if I can use my 3 sim in it?

The sim I have is a rolling pay monthly sim with 200 call mins, unlimited texts & unlimited Internet for about £13 a month.

I don't really use much of my sim plan allowance at all as I hardly text or make many calls but I like this sim plan as it comes in handy for emergencies or when I go out and need to use the internet and I think its a great price. At home I just connect via my BT wifi and so wouldn't be using much of the sims data.

Can I use my sim in a tablet or not?..I read of peoples sims getting bared for doing this?

Hi, I don't know about three but I remember giffgaff would only allow their SIMs in devices capable of making calls but I'm not sure if they can enforce that :thumbsupdroid:
I'd check threes smallprint

@girolez three do offer 4g for the same price as 3g mate :)

PS if it doesn't work you could tether the tablet to your phone

Yeah I'll only be using 3G, thats good enough for me.

Ok well the Samsung Tab S tablet can make calls so hopefully it'll be ok and like I mentioned I don't really use the sim data, calls & texts allowance much and would use mostly data through my home BT wifi.

Cool thanks you two..:)

They don't allow it. When I picked up a SIM for my Nexus 7 a while back, I wanted one of the unlimited deals, but the guy in the shop said it was a no go and pointed me to one of the tablet only SIM deals.

Whether or not they check what device the SIM is in is a different story altogether though. :)

Of course if you want to have Internet access on your tablet you could turn on the wifi hot spot mode on your phone and 5th en connect via wifi. Depending on your tariff you may have unlimited tethering or a 4Gb allowance.... It's worth checking

Yeah on three I can tether unlimited to my tablet (I used over 50gb once) but I know other people have problems with it being blocked.
@El Presidente he says the tab is capable of making calls so wouldn't that make a difference?

I know with giffgaff it was allowed (even if they sometimes banned you out the blue and you had to set up a dispute to get reconnected which could take days but gg don't use call centres

Yeah I've read people getting their sims blocked for doing it as they are able to tell what device its being used in. But who knows it may depend on how much data you use and like I said I'll be mostly using it via my home BT wifi anyway but still don't like the idea of it getting blocked say if I was away somewhere and had to rely on my sims data plan.
Also good point about the Tab S making calls as well so may be different.
I guess I can only try it and I'll find out.

Thanks peoples..:)
