can i use standard car charger to charge 6p?

Yes, most USB car charger/adapters will work but note that you need to check on its amperage rating. If it's rated for only 1 amp your 6p will take really long time to charge up. Note that the Nexus 6p has a 3450 mAh battery inside -- with 1000 mA = 1 amp you've got an almost 3.5 amp battery. If the car adapter you already own is rated for 3 amps that will pretty much take advantage of your 6p's fast charging capability. More details in this here:

But if your car adapter is on the low side, just taking a quick look on Amazon I didn't see any 3 amp auto chargers (several 4 amp or more but those a little deceiving in that those are multiple ports that add up to those total numbers). This 2.4 amp/dual port model looks good:

and this 2.4 amp charger includes a molded USB-C plug (note the green USB port is irrelevant as the 6p apparently doesn't support Qualcomm’s Quick Charge 2.0 standard)

Just for clarity, the "type C" cable is a USB cable, it's just a different version like micro USB, type A USB, etc. There are cables out there that go from type C to type A (standard USB size your computer uses).

I've ordered this one personally and have had no issues with charging from a desktop USB hub that isn't the correct amperage to utilize the quick charging capability but it still charges pretty fast. http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00S8GU544?psc=1&redirect=true&ref_=oh_aui_detailpage_o07_s00

For car chargers, I ordered this one: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0...er nexus 6p&qid=1455663574&ref_=sr_1_3&sr=8-3 which DOES utilize the rapid charging feature of the 6P and also has an extra USB port.

Also for good measure and for a "just in case" type of situation I ordered these as well for when I only have a regular micro USB cable around: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0151RKYBG?psc=1&redirect=true&ref_=oh_aui_detailpage_o07_s00 and they work pretty well. I've had to use them a few times.

Let me add, it may not be a bad thing to use a "slower" charger on your 6P in your car, depending on how you are using it. If you are using your 6P for navigation in your car, the navigation, GPS, and cellular usage will heat your phone, especially if it is in direct sunlight. Charging it, especially fast charging, heats the phone even more. So you could end up with the phone getting overly warm, which is bad for the battery.

By slow charging, it will cause the phone to not get as hot, but still charge the phone enough to prevent it from losing charge, it just likely won't gain much while navigation is running.

This is a really good point, something we all need to take into consideration now that our phone batteries have become such a focal point for even something like taking a long drive. Thank you mogelijk.
