can i use windows to copy a file on the android to the android desktop - es exp does not do this

es explorer used to but now when i click the three dots it allows me to copy to many folders but NOT the desktop!

galaxy note 10.1 ( the old one)
kernal version 3.0.31-etc

so i can connect to the win7 laptop, can i use that?
thanks

Talk of copying to the desktop is a bit misleading, since there is no "desktop" folder in Android (that's a Windows thing). Indeed the desktop isn't a part of the Android UI or OS, but is produced by an app called a launcher. This means that Windows won't be able to do this for you.

What you want is the to create a shortcut to the file on your current launcher's desktop. So the first thing to check is that ES doesn't still have the option but just with a different (and more accurate) name. If not then Solid Explorer does allow you to create desktop shortcuts to files (select file, 3-dot button and "create shortcut").

This is Solid Explorer File and Cloud Manager Please note that this is a 14 day trial version
uh oh!

Ok, try Explorer by Speed Software (developer of Root Explorer). I know that Root Explorer has this option (long press on the file and scroll down through the menu, create shortcut is there), and as far as I can see the non-root version is free.
