Root Can I utilize non "MAXX" ROMs?

[inssane]

I read somewhere that one can use regular RAZR ROMs and rooting guides, etc with the Maxx.
Is this true?
I just want to confirm so that I'm not trying to flash RAZR ROMs and they are slightly not compatible with the MAXX

They are the exact same phone, so everything should work.

Might want to check build.prop.

There's a way that VZW knows, the maxx got the latest update first, then then razr. Under about phone mine says "DROID RAZR MAXX"
