can K9 mail be prevented from opening attachments?

When I receive attachments like Excel .xls files I usually would like to just save them and view/work with them later. But the options K-9 mail gives you are OPEN or SAVE. Whenever I click SAVE the files immediately are opened for me. Is there somewhere in settings that would allow me to save the file without opening it?

Has this been happening on a consistent basis for a period of time or just something that started recently? I haven't noticed anything like this myself. Just tried saving an attached pic now just to confirm it was still working OK. About the only thing I can think of checking is Settings >> Global Settings >> Miscellaneous and check that the selected directory is one you have access privileges to.

Yes. As long as I can remember. The great majority of attachments I receive are Excel workbooks and JPG photos. As soon as I hit SAVE the workbooks open or the photos display.
I will try your suggestion about the Global Settings.
Thanks for the reply.

This is really strange behavior. So when you select 'Save' it opens the attachment, I'll assume when you select 'Open' it also opens the attachment? (the proper action) Have you tried going into your phone's Settings >> Application manage, doing a 'Force stop' and clearing the cache?

Aquamail could be similar.

Look under settings, message view or something similar. You can turn off "Image previews" and "hide attachments"
That should leave a small notice that there are attachments and you can open them yourself.
