You can get lollipop on it very easily by flashing one of the ROMs linked to in this thread - http://androidforums.com/index.php?threads/852247/ - It does say newbies read first
How much experience do you have with this stuff? If you need any help just ask.

I cannot find much info on whether or not LG dropped support or not. Can anyone confirm LG has stopped supporting the LG Volt 1 on android upgrades?

LG and other company's do not support low end entry devices really long. This device is over a year old. That is when company's usually stop supporting low end entry devices. They focus on the mid range and High end devices longer. @ShapeShifter499 and @guttersnipes199 .

Btw Volt 2 is lollipop. They make more money by selling multiple devices with similar features but different hardware.
