Root can not get to recovery mode

I have stock GB and I can not get to recovery mode. If I follow the instructions Hold home button and power up and then let go of home button and press the search button once) I just see the image of recovery mode at boot time and it stays there.
I have installed Rom manager and flashed with Clockwork 2.5.0.7

On gb you press both volume buttons instead of search.
