Help can not play a few avi files

it's strange. all my avi files work fine on my pc computer but not my xoom. just a few that would not open. i have tried with mx player and mobo play. any suggestion. thanks.

thank you for trying to help. i am new to a tablet and new to the xoom. i accidentally found to new function by press holding (maybe 2 to 3 seconds) to the avi file on the xoom > mx player > listed files. a new window pops up that has 3 options. it works fine with "fast mode" option.

what is rooted? my xoom auto detects updates and installs it. it is now ICS 4.0.4. i have not done anything else.
