Can only sync from google not to it

I've got a new Droid Incredible 2 and have been getting it all set up and am having issues syncing with my google account. Essentially I can only sync from Google to my phone not the other way. As soon as I enter a new contact to Google or a new Calendar entry it shows up on my phone within minutes. However, any contacts and calendar entries I enter to my phone do not show up on Google even after manually syncing.I have auto sync turned on and all of the sync options selected under the Google account.

I've been searching for answers for a couple of hours now and have seen similar things but nothing exactly the same. I've read people talking about "Phone Only" contacts but don't see a way to change how they are stored. One solution was to export them from the phone to the card then import them back as Google contacts but that would be a pain to have to do when a new contact is created and also would not fix the calendar problem.

If anyone has any thoughts or can point me to a setting I'd appreciate it.

Your contacts need to be Google Contacts to sync with Google. You probably have Phone Contacts, which wont sync.

If ALL your contacts are Phone Contacts, you can do this: Export to the sd card, then delete all contacts on the phone, then import the contacts as Google Contacts. Only do this if ALL of your contacts are Phone Contacts, otherwise you will get duplicates.

And from now on, when you add a contact to the phone, add it as a Google Contact, not a phone contact.

Thanks for the reply sitlet. I was hoping not to have to do that (export then import) but I guess I can delete all my Google contacts then just reload them by synching them from the phone.

I also found that there is a event type for either pc sync or Google, making them Google let them sync to my Google Calendar. The whole thing makes sense now, but it really wasn't as intuitive as I think it could have been.

Thanks for the nudge in the right direction!

When I got my Incredible 2, the Verizon store uploaded all my contact from the Eris. Then Google added those, so now I have double everything. What is the simpliest way to delete all on the phone, and then reload from my gmail google contacts? If I delete all on the phone, will it delete from gmail also? I don't want that!
Thanks for the help,
EEB
