Help Can someone explain what's wrong with my LG motion?

Battery life is the biggest issue with my lg motion. the stock battery goes dead real quick. I can barely play games on it without it going dead fast. I bought an extended battery to improve battery life. The extended battery gives me the same battery life, if not, only slightly better, but barely, than the stock. Is the phone just set to charge a certain amount or is my extended battery a lemon? I tried charging and discharging multiple times like the instructions said and no luck. This phone on battery is nothing but an issue. The extended battery does not help at all, in fact it just makes my phone have the same battery and makes it bulkier. So I might just have to use the stock battery all over again, just to slim down my phone. I don't know what to do. You think the companies do this so you wouldn't use third party batteries? The stock battery is absolutely horrible and I just want to improve battery life. I restored and flashed it countless amount of times, maybe 30 restores or more (dead serious). The thing is, the discharge process is the same. It goes from 100% to 97-96% fast, just like the stock battery does, so it must be software related? The battery life on this phone is a joke and the fact that the extended battery is doing the exact same thing maybe because of an android and or LG/MetroPcs restriction, is not fair. I can't use the phone because of its poor battery life. It just makes me really annoyed that I have to constantly keep an eye on the battery icon and watch it go lower and lower just using it for 20mins-1hour and the battery is almost half way drained with just simple browsing, ringtone downloading, music etc... I hear people who have extended batteries are getting 12 hours or more with everything on (wifi/4g, gps, games, brightness, etc...). This is real annoying and the extended battery is useless practically. I think it's either my phone having a hardware power issue or an android software issue. I charge it for long and it doesn't make a difference. You can charge it for 3 hours, or over 12 hours and get the same battery life, seriously. This is a big issue because I can't use my LG motion for anything without leaving it in sleep mode, and even then, it drains over night.

Is there a trick to making it have a high battery life without downloading anything? Someone explain how they are making their LG motions have long battery life, because this is absolutely annoying.

Maybe its a defective phone, cause my stock battery lasts me all day as and i leave it charging overnight. My days typically start at 5 am and phone use begins at 6 am and it lasts me all the way till night around 9. And theb i just use my spare Admire on wifi

I always get defective items, and I am tired of it. I cannot use this phone properly. my last LG, which was the optimus m had a multi-touch issue where it would be inconsistent and would not pinch to zoom and stuff like that. My lg monitor has a defective led power light that barely works now. What have i learned about LG? They suck, from my experience and I just want a phone that works without problems.

I here ya but these thinga happen. Considering that the harware parts are mass produced you cant expect your phonr to be the same one as someone elses even if the hardware was produced in the same batch. Im having some troubles with my phone as well. You know sometimes a factory reset can fix many things, or try the unbricking method. Sometimes going back to the beginning can fix things. I myself have learned to buy phones from only two manufacturers, Samsung and LG.

You could also have a rogue app cauaing havoc on your phone that's wasting away battery life. There apps in the playstore that can help find these appa so you can stop them

I would definitely check your apps. First thing to do is a factory wipe. Just see if that alone does the trick. If so, then add your daily apps back one by one daily to see how they affect your battery. There may be a way to check battery stats and see if anything in particular is causing the drain. GPS, Bluetooth, WiFi scanning and weak signal scanning will drain your battery quickly, especially if compounded. My Motion gets pretty decent battery life with the OEM slim BL-44JH.

Try going to settings/powersave/battery use
That will give you a better idea where you battery juice is going.

Your best bet is to use es task manager you can and will save tons of battery if you use it properly to prevent most of your startup apps from running at boot but you need to be rooted and give es task manager root permissions. Also use the widget and set most of your daily apps in the kill only list and have it auto kill on screen lock or whatever. Be care full what apps you disable

The battery just dies on its own. If I keep it ini airplane mode in sleep, then it stays full for the most part, but if I use it no matter what, it just drops and this is an extended battery, an upgrade from stock and it drains the same amount maybe even worse.

Read your battery stats. Right now hit the home button until you are at your home screen hit the settings key with the 3 lines. Go to system settings/battery and find the problem app it will mostly be light, android system,or certain apps

I am thining maybe there is an app running causing the drain. How can you check for that? also, I notice when I reboot my phone, it shows the battery percentage dropped about 10 percent. If I reboot when the battery is almost dead, it'll show a bit more charge, like 10 percent more I guess, not all the time though. I think this battery might be bad, because people say that after they reboot their phone, your suppose to get 60-70% charge left on reboot, even after it dies. I am trying to browse for a new battery now, this battery is nothing but bulk and doesn't hold a good charge.

In my battery searches for this phone i havent found a stock battery that has good reviews and is the exact same type of battery. The ones i usually find have reviews that say the battery stops charging rather quickly after receiving it

i followed these steps from a amazon comment

"Type in: ##LGSERVICEMENU send on the dialpad.

enter the security code: (mine was 059835) *others may be different.

locate: SW/HW Tests or HW test or SW/HW Versions

once you locate and select the correct field you need to find "bypass booting"

in this menu you need to locate fake battery mode select it and choose on.

Back-out of the menu

Reboot

Your LG will now work with any battery that fits into the phone."

maybe it might work now?

I would delete that number. It different for every phone. So I'm pretty sure its dangerous to have it out there.

Now for my two cents
If I was OP I would use the unbrick method. If that didn't work. Take the phone in because of it being defective get another for $11

I guess that's my last solution. I already tried the unbrick method plenty of times. I downloaded this app https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.uzumapps.wakelockdetector&hl=en and it states mymetro is causing the most usage i guess. I have to charge it to 100% they said in order to be sure or for the app to work correctly. Maybe it's a glitch in the mymetro app that's draining the battery, since the extended battery isn't helping.

No luck, I think this "extended battery" is a dud. I pretty much just gave up on it. I am now trying to search for a new battery. I am afraid that most lithium ions out there are duds. I don't want to spend a lot on a new battery or brand new OEM battery. I am afraid my phone is gonna break from constantly swapping batteries and turning the phone on and off, rebooting, etc.. to factory restore, and to keep calibrating the battery and whatever. I already restored my phone well over 15 times for other reasons, not for the battery really. I might be that my phone is defective, but I should try one more battery just to be sure. I am not sure which battery to buy and not get a dud.

It's either a disfunct phone or an app draining your battery. If you are rooted, download titanium backup from the market (free version) and freeze/uninstall all of metro's crap. Take a look at this thread to find all the crapware you can safely remove:
http://androidforums.com/motion-4g-all-things-root/613241-guide-wip-apps-safe-remove.html

Also go into Settings > Power Saver > Scroll down to battery use and see what processes are eating your battery. You said that My Metro is using a lot of battery, that is part of the crapware you can safely delete. uninstall all the apps that you can and keep check on the battery usage till you find the app causing the most drain.

I have several apps installed that use wifi/data constantly during the day and when I get home, I still have 50 +- of battery left.
