There are lots of backup apps on the playstore, that allow exporting of all messages and importation into a different service. If that is what you looking for?

Personally I use MyBackupPro.

Texts aren't owned by the SMS app - that's what allows you to use different apps. So if you want a backup just use any SMS backup app that fits your needs.

(I've never used the Samsung app, and which version you have will depend on what phone and software version you have, so can't answer your question about that app).
