No, er, my "friend" and her hypothetical...er, my hypothetical, well, whatever...those six indoor cats, don't want to set off any red flags. They've been living happily...hypothetically, of course...for several years so it's probably just best to let things go on as normal.
Just a few months ago there would've only been five hypothetical cats. Then I hypothetically adopted another one on Halloween.

Okay, so here's my take on it right now:
My hypothetical six cats and I are going to go on as before, not knowing about and not caring about some oddly worded city ordinances that may, or may not, limit the number of indoor cats to three. I'd like to see anyone come here and PROVE there are six cats! The two hypothetical ferals hide so well sometimes even I don't see them for a day or two. My mom's aide had worked here for probably six months before she FINALLY saw one of the two feral cats; I kept telling her they really exist, they're not a figment of my imagination, but she didn't believe me until she saw one for herself! :laugh:
the other was just a tiny kitten living in the woods I repeatedly tried to find her mother but I think maybe something happened to her..but at least I saved the kitten....they have all passed away now...all happy loved and at a ripe old age

It's only a matter of time before you get that insistent knock on your door, with a pair of laconic, poker-faced detectives wanting to ask a lot of questions about your kitties. Just a matter of time...

I MISSED the 'weirdness' of California when I lived in other states--including Texas. I had a beautiful house in Carrollton (a North Dallas suburb), that I loved, but that was about the ONLY thing I loved there. In '92, our front yard was the only one for miles around with a Clinton/Gore sign in it. I actually had nasty notes left on my windshield because of things my bumper stickers said. (Like being pro-Democrat, pro-animal rights, stuff like that.) Now that I'm back home where I belong, I'll NEVER leave again.
Those laws exist elsewhere, too. I know firsthand, because when we lived in another North Dallas suburb, Farmers Branch, we found out the hard way. We had actually contacted the city PRIOR to moving there, specifically asking about ordinances limiting the number of pets, and they said there were none. Great. So we moved there, and then [long story I'll skip] had a visit from Animal Control. Turns out there was a limit of three pets. Well, we had five Great Danes, plus numerous cats. We got to know the chief Animal Control officer, who turned out to be a real sweetie, and he pointed out that since all the dogs were black, and most people couldn't tell them apart, just to never let more than three of them out at a time and we'd be fine. :laugh: When we bought our house in Carrollton we didn't even bother finding out about any pet ordinances. At that time, all our dogs had died off, so we only had [indoor] cats and a parrot. By the time we got dogs again, we didn't even think about it, and never had any issues.
