Help Can`t upgade from 2.2 to 2.3.4

Hi there! I am looking for some assistance from this wonderful community!
If there already exists such a topic, please delete this thread.
But I desperately need assistance with regard to upgrading my Galaxy S from version 2.2 to 2.3.4

These are characteristics of the phone:


Model number: GT- I9000

Purchased in Europe (Switzerland)

Unlocked and without any sort of provider.

Firmware: 2.2

Baseband version: I9000XXJPP

Kernel version: 2.63.32.9

Now I tried with Kies, but it does not automatically update.


I am desperately trying to update to 2.3.4 as I read some good things about it and in hope that the performance will improve (including battery life).


Any assistance is appreciated

Good luck. Since I have owned my Galaxy S, I have had nothing but problems with compatability to Kies and daily relogin requirements for my e-mail accounts with Samsung's E-mail administrator. I guarantee you I will NOT be purchasing another Samsung phone. Yes, it's great, WHEN IT WORKS. I am going to ride out the rest of my 3 year term with the existing operating system then tossing this huge, disappointing piece of Samsung S#*t.
