Help Can this phone take pics in widescreen?

Slo-scan panorama feature is cool too, if you want em really wide.

I'm not too up on the technical side of this but I believe a "widescreen" photo would just crop out the top and bottom of the image. The nexus is not cropping the outside of your images off to make a more "square" photo.

That is correct. Wide screen just crops the top and bottom of the picture. I personally prefer to take full frame photos, and since you can always crop them to wide screen later and you still get the bits at the top and bottom.
