Can you beat my data usage Galaxy Nexusers?

Day 26 of 31 on VZW account I'd like to try and hit 15 GB by the time I'm done streaming the NBC Olympics app! I think I used 2 GB in one day..

I've seen screen shots up in the 80 gb range, they were tethering though and using it to stream movies all month long...

Next time those clowns at VZW tell me they had no choice but to kill unlimited data... I will think of you.

+1

to be fair 11 gb, SHOULDN'T be excessive use...

VZW is trying kill unlimited because they want to gouge people on the overages as more people start streaming data...

Exactly! The vast majority of those 11 GIGS are from Pandora and NBC Olympics video streaming.

Once people start streaming more and more HD video, those gigs go by quick.

Funny too how often streaming of video is emphasized as a feature by the carriers in marketing and advertising. This is like when Budweiser shows everyone raising hell in a commercial and then ends it with "drink responsibly."

VZW is saying, enjoy your phone, but don't enjoy it too much.

Beat ya.

I USED TO have all my Google Music pinned for offline use. That is, until I started wiping and ROMming my phone.

For some odd reason, every time I started over, Google Music would re-download all my music to the phone. Again and again and again.

I think I hit 19 GB in a 4 day span

Finally, in desperation, I unpinned everything.

Never got a love letter or call from Verizon, but I sure was waiting for it!

No. Not even close. But then again my phone is only used for calls and texting. Surfing, streaming, gaming etc. are done from my PC.

I had a similar thing happen. I had wiped my phone to install some ROM, and had deleted my SD card contents as well for a clean start. So at around 6pm, I pinned the music I wanted, and left the phone plugged in, in my office.

When I woke up the next morning and grabbed my phone, I saw that I had forgotten to set up my wifi network on it. Oops.

14gb overnight. Thanks, 4G speeds!

i had this same experience, just wanted to download music so i can listen to it at work (where i have no signal) 7 GB in one night! and then i found the password to the freeish wifi, and havent really downloaded anything since

Are you tethering or is all that usage only on and by your phone?

this is streaming the Olympics, nothing to do with tethering from what i understand

To be honest, 11 GB in a month is not a lot of data if you think about it. That's maybe 10 movies at DVD quality. HD? Maybe 3-4.. 11 GB over a period of a month means he used about 400 MB of data a day. That's actually pretty realistically easy to do. That's just a few hours of internet radio. I've managed to do 400 MB within an hour over 4G, to download some software when my internet went out.

Above average? Absolutely. But we really shouldn't be dogging on people for using 11 GB. 100 GB? Maybe.

Exactly, just to clarify.

A dvd quality movie is 3-4.5gb so you can get 2-3 of them in 11GB..
HD --- 1-2 movies :P

Okay fair enough. I meant compressed really far down so it takes up about 1 GB for DVD. I can't imagine downloading the raw MPEG-2 from a DVD to play on your phone. A little overkill in my opinion.

I average around 25-30 GB a month, streaming video over tethered connection for an hour a day usually. I maxed around 50 GB in a month when I first got the phone. I'm currently just over 18 GB with about 10 days left in the cycle...

I used up nearly 2GB a month in speedtests alone for the first couple of months! Not to mention all the GB/s of app downloading!

Well, this month, mine is at 7.9gb, 16 days into the billing cycle, and that's just normal use. No streaming or tethering.

Now, when I had my WiFi hotspot, and was downloading movies off Demonoid (average movie size is 700mb - 1.3gb each), I've hit well over 50gb within the course of a week before.
