Help Cannot activate my d2g

Hello, I just registered to this website as I just acquired my first droid phone - Droid 2 Global. So hello to all and please understand that I have no idea what I'm doing, ever, I just try to understand.

Now, onto the issue, my phone won't activate because I'm just outside the 'official' coverage area in Utah. My phone has a Las Vegas number because when we first signed up for Verizon we lived in (you guessed it) Las Vegas.

By the way, I have activated data-requiring phones manually from home (utah) before.

So I called Verizon and we somehow got my phone to create/receive calls/messages but it still wouldn't activate. I was then told "You're just going to have to drive to a covered area, sorry." -- But that's 3 1/2 hours away, I can't drive 200 miles and back just to activate my phone. I don't even have a drivers license.

I have also (just while typing this) inserted and older SIM card into the phone and it brought a screen reading:

Battery OK
OK to Program
Connect USB
Data Cable



What the h? Can anyone point me in the right direction? I'd deeply appreciate it.

You have to be in verizon coverage to get it to activate. It has to sync with their systems and can't do so if it is roaming as it would not be able to sync with verizon. You could try to go to the website and activate with the MEID number but I doubt it will work

I would see if they will let you fedex it to them, have them activate it, and fedex it back. I wouldn't make the 200 mile trip either. Or send it to someone you know in a coverage area.
