Root cannot boot ascend 2 into recovery mode VIA rom manager

im attempting to install CM7 on my ascend 2 but cannot get it to boot into recovery mode VIA rom manager. reboots to the white ascend screen and sits there.

i had read a few other users simply reflashed cwm until it worked (2-3 times), but that has not been the case for me.

CWM ver 4.0.1.5
kernel 2.3.3

any ideas? the threads on this forum have yielded no good information that helps my situation :(
 
what reset combo? in rom manager, when you attempt to install a rom VIA sd card, it prompts you to boot into recovery mode by hitting ok.

i am not talking about holding vol up or down + power...

but now that you mention it, i cannot get into the recovery option by holding volume up + power after i power down my phone...
 
finally was able to boot into recovery mode (had to reinstall CWM twice), got CM7 installed, however there is no service and my wifi doesnt work.

disappointing, considering all i had to go through to get it to work :\

i think i installed the alpha and not beta, so that was my bad. gonna install the beta and see what happens. looks neat though!

CM7 beta seems to be working wonderfully. picked up my cell carrier no problem, 3g data works. nice!

there is TONS of free space on my phone now! holy crap thats amazing, all that bloatware is gone. might have to do this to the wifes phone later... she might really enjoy it.

only downside is wifi is not working :\
 
Well it is wifi repair apps or you may need to copy and paste from another working rom glad to see you get it working .
