Cannot change ringtone

I had the dreaded 'Media Server' battery drain over the last few days so reformatted my SD card and then copied over the files again to the card. Now I cannot change the ringtone. When I try I get an option to choose the app to locate a music file on the SD card which it does, but the ringtone does not change. Looking at the forums it seems I should be choosing 'Media Storage' from the selected apps but this is not showing up. Any ideas would be gratefully received.

I had MediaServer show up which i think was linked to Google Chrome.

Now i've stopped chrome and am using the stock samsung browser and so far fingers crossed its not shown up in battery stats.

Yes, it turned out to be Chrome causing it on my phone too. I uninstalled it and installed Chrome Dev which seems to have solved it. At least for now.

However, I realised this after I had reformatted my SD card which is proving to be problematic.

I looked at Chrome dev but was put off with some reviews that by definition it is a little buggy.

I cant uninstall Chrome as it came bundled on my s7 edge so i've cleared all its data, caches and force stopped and disabled it.

My Sd Card is brand new Sandisk Ultra 32 Gb option which is enough for me.

Heck i came from a 16gb iPhone so having a total of 64gb storage is daunting. lol

Sorry, I meant I had disable Chrome rather than uninstalling it. Why Chrome should start playing up is anyone's guess.
