Cannot find Kindle/Mobi downloads in the Android internal memory

I have Samsung Galaxy 4 tablet
I have purchased and downloaded a few Kindle E-books from Amazon . These files are MOBI .
I can open and read them fine in my Android Samsung tablet ( Galaxy) with the Amazon Kindle Application, but I’d like to move them into my tablet’s external SD card in order to read them with my usual e-Book reader( Prestigio ) without having to switch to the Kindle App every time.
Prestigio supports MOBI , but Mobi can easily be converted to EPUB with Calibre ( the DRM issue is easily solved. Anyway, I paid for them!)

I have unsuccessfully tried to locate these Kindle books in the Android file system, but, strangely, they are nowhere to be found, even if I can open and read them wit the Kindle App..

I unsuccessfully tried to locate them in Android/Data/com.amazon kindle/files: one of the books has a folder with the name of the author( Herodotus), but the folder is empty. The other two are simply not there. There is no folder with the author’s name .

There is however a bunch of files/folders with an interrogation mark icon and a sequence of numbers and letters, most of them with a asc ending, some with a ticr and one with a PRC ending not corresponding to the books I am looking for.

I'm not sure that is permitted by Amazon - else, what would prevent a user from buying the E-Books and then redistributing to anyone else?
I'm not saying it can't be done - but am questioning whether it is legally permitted or not.

Modifying Kindle eBook files (particularly with regard to removing DRM) is against the Kindle Store Terms of Use. We can't help you with that.

That being said, I believe the files are encrypted/protected when downloaded via the Kindle for Android app. You won't be able to do much of anything with them. You can use the Kindle App for PC to download the files in .mobi or .azw format in case you want to back them up.

I won’t dwell on the DRM removal issue ,neither do I expect you to comment on this since it is a legal issue .

My question is within the boundaries of legality , though, because it doesn’t entail removing the DRM but just moving the Kindle/MOBI file from where it should be ( and I cannot find) into my external SD card so that it can be opened by my e-BOOK reader ( Prestigio) which supports , opens and reads Mobi files as they are, without requiring any DRM manipulation .

Again, I am just asking where hese MOBI files are in the Android file system in order to be able to move them to my external SD card. This is all!

Re-read the last bit of my post.

The Kindle for Android app stores its data in an encrypted format. That's what those .asc files are. You can't get the .mobi from the Android app, sorry.

You can, however, use the Kindle app for PC. Connect it to your Amazon account, download the books you need, and they'll be store in plain .mobi or .azw format on your computer's file system. On a Mac, you’ll find them in ~USERNAME/Library/Application Support/Kindle/My Kindle Content. On Windows PCs, you should find the book files in My Documents/My Kindle Content.

Do with this knowledge what you will.

Edit: It seems I was mistaken about the file types. .PRC is the format generally used for books downloaded to the Kindle Android app instead of the more traditional .MOBI format. If your alternative eBook reader can read .PRC, great! Otherwise, you'll probably need to do as I mentioned earlier and use the Kindle PC app to get the .MOBI or .AZW file.

Thanks for the info. After downloading Kindle for PC, I did find those Kindle files in my Kindle Contents folder and I was able to do what I wanted with them, in spite of a half an hour chat with Amazon Kindle on the chat room.
They tried to dodge the issue all the way telling me that none of the downloaded Kindle books are physically downloaded to the PC for proprietary DRM reasons ( which is understandable) , but only to the Kindle APP in such a manner that they are invisible to the PC.
Well, those files ARE in my PC as you suggested ( and I myself thought) they would be !
