Root Cannot get my phone rooted with my mac

I cannot get my phone to be rooted with my mac, I followed a youtube video for installing unrevoked 3 and it just stays on "waiting for device"

-I've done unplug of phone
-Disable/enable usb debugging
-Charge only and disk drive
-Powering down both mac and phone
-Reinstalling unrevoked

Don't know what else to do, there's not much info out there for macs and I've checked out the guide to see if it would help and I didn't find anything... Please help I've been trying to do this for HOURS.

I think your problem could be sdk tools not being seen by your Mac read here.

Stop.

Pull the battery out of your phone
put it back in
Hold volume down and power
This brings you to your hboot


Post your hboot version


Also, YouTube videos are horrendous for anything tech wise. They get outdated so quickly and many times you use an old method that's mo longer used (like unrevoked or revolutionary)
