Cannot install Facebook after Marshmallow update

My Moto G 2nd gen updated to 6.0 last week and my FB app disappeared. I've tried reinstalling it multiple times but it just wouldn't complete installation. There is no message of any kind. It downloads the app, then appears to be installing it, but then just stops without saying anything. Has anyone had the same problem or know the solution?

Welcome to Android Forums.

Did you Wipe Cache Partition after doing the upgrade to Marshmallow. This will remove all temporary files and not touch any permanent files, apps, or settings.

Are you using the launcher that came with the phone or are you using an alternate launcher like Nova?

Thanks Thom. I cleared the cache, then tried to install FB using Google Play. Same result, no message of any kind.

Thanks CyrilM! It worked. I guess Thom suggested it earlier but I thought he meant just clearing the cache. Didn't know how to wipe the cache partition or that there was such a thing until I followed your link. I'm gonna bookmark that site.

Glad to hear it worked for you as well. As you say it is necessary to Clear the Cache Partition (not the cache).
