Help Cannot mount as disk - only charges when plugged in

Hi.

My phone kept opening HTC Locations to the point where it was unusable as it was happening every few seconds until I found a post on here stating it could be due to dirt in the MicroUSB slot. So I cleaned it out with a needle and voila: the problem seemed fixed.

Now however, when I connect the phone via USB, instead of coming up with the connection icon in my notifications it just opens Locations (again). I continued reading and found a few posts talking about a resistance between pin 4 & 5 in the car docking station which brings up Locations when plugged in but this is happening on my PC and I can't see any more dirt in there which could be causing the resistance.

Could simply cleaning the dirt out have damaged something? It seems peculiar as my PC continues to recognise the phone, just not vice versa...

Thanks for any advice

I take it that your version of Android hasn't to option 'Dock' on DHD's Settings (former versions -2.3.3 and below- had there an option to uncheck Dock's automatic start).

If you don't need Locations you'd try uninstalling its updates, maybe an older version hasn't this annoying issue.

Your PC recognize your DHD? But see you the SD card's folders and files on the Windows Explorer?
If so your PC has mounted the SD card of the DHD and this starting of Locations is annoying but it's not important.

I think your DHD's microUSB port causes this starting of Locations, but to be sure you'd try to connect with another USB cable :)
