Root cannot reboot in clockwork 5

nitram22

Newbie
hello I have a galaxy ace GT-S5380D.
I rooted the phone using "Superoneclick"
I have installed clockwork5 app.
i try to reboot in clockwork using the power and home button and the phone only reboots in the stock "Andoid System Recovery <3e>."
I don't get the option of "wiping delvick" or "Advanced" as mentioned by other users.
I have clockwork 5 on sd card, when i go to apply update from SD card from menu and start clockwork from there I get:
"error in /tmp/sideload/package.zip (status7) Installation aborted.

any way around this??? Is it a setting on clockwork????

Are you sure that you are rooted?
Get a root file manager and see if you can access the system files or not.

Im fairly new at this but I have an app called Root Explorer.

when i open app i see folders:
acct
cache
config
cooper.rle
d
data
default.prop
dev
etc
fsua
init
init.goldfish.rc
init.qcom.post_boost.sh
init.qcom.rc
init.qcom.sh
init.rc
lib
mnt
persist
proc
recovery
root
sbin
sdcard
sys
system
ueventd.goldfish.rc
ueventd.rc
vendor

i assume these are system files?

Thanks

yes, that is correct.
You are rooted fine.
Now pls explain the procedure you used for flashing CWM5, maybe the problem is there...

Ok

I don't know about flashing, but the only thing i did was install CWM app.
When i open the app there are menus and I choose the recovery tab that says "reboot into ClockworkMod recovery. the phone then turns off and reboots but still into what I believe to be the standard Samsung directory, since I don't see any of the options mentioned above.
e.g. wipe dalvick cache.

From what I see in this tutorial I need CWM 4 installed in order to upgrade to CWM 5?
I'm still looking for a version with .zip.

I do have CWM 5 on my sd card but when i try to install through recovery menu i get the error message I mentioned at the start of this thread.

Thanks for taking time to answer this thread.

You can install any rom built for your phone model.
You cannot install any rom with CWM4, its old version, you need to upgrade to CWM5, flash CWM5 through CWM4 and then flash any rom you want.
