Help Cannot remove Facebook and Twitter account.

I am trying to remove my facebook and twitter accounts from my phone since they took over my contacts list and I simply just do not want them.

When I go to settings > accounts > then try to remove either of them I get the "Removing Account" box with the red bar and it feels up to the end. Then I get an error message saying "An error has occurred. Please try again." I have rebooted the phone and everything.

I googled this problem and found many posts with the same problem, but no answers.

Does anyone have a clue what to do ?

If you go into your Contacts and push the Menu button -> Display Group, you can tell it not to display your Twitter and Facebook contacts. I know it's not exactly the answer you were looking for (not sure why you can't delete those accounts, I did mine), but it will at least keep them from making your contact list huge with a ton of people you don't care about IRL.
