Help Cannot send or receive MMS

Using an AT&T LG G2 repurposed to Consumer Cellular with their SIM. Everything works well except MMS. I can send and receive SMS just fine but cannot send or receive MMS messages. Anybody out there NOT having MMS problems with their AT&T LG G2 who would be willing to share your settings from the CCI APN.

Spent a lot of time on the phone with Consumer Cellular. Tried a dozen different settings with a newly created APN with no success. I guess there is nobody in the world using an LG G2 on the Consumer Cellular network who can send or receive MMS messages.

Guess I'll have to revert to my Motorola Moto G and drop the G2 in a desk drawer never to see the light of day again.

Are you on a data plan? The reason I ask is that many think (not meaning you) that MMS = text messages with media (which, it is but sorta isn't, lol). I know you said everything else is working but just wanted to clarify that you have data, as while MMS is not considered to be data, it uses data. Many carriers have data allowances for MMS even though the customer is not on a data plan.

So, no disrespect/insult intended, just wanted to get that out of the way.

I've searched around (as you have) for MMS/APN settings for Consumer Cellular, and all I could find are these articles, which you probably found too:

This thread below sounds most promising, a tech call may be necessary is your account may not have been provisioned properly:

Good luck and let us know how you make out.

Same issue with my plan. Even though it's an ATT based prepaid carrier, their MMS doesn't work well with the APN Settings they have outlined. I just use "hello" texting service. It sends the images as a URL instead.

Well, I've tried every possible setting as suggested by others with no success. Another forum addressed the same problem with MSS and the G2 and concluded that Android 4.4.2 and the AT&T are not compatible. Evidently there is a bug of sorts within KitKat or the AT&T ROM. My next step will be to see if I can revert to an earlier version of Android to see if that works. Or, I may just shelve the phone until the next version of Android is pushed out .... whenever that may be. It's such a shame considering what a powerhouse the LG G2 is compared to my Motorola Moto G. Sigh!

Try a different messaging app... Many carrier variants have the stock messaging app hard coded with their own settings and to get MMS to work you have to use a third party app like Hangouts, Textra, or something like that.

Tried several different MMS clients. All did the same thing .... failed. There is something hard-coded into the AT&T ROM that prevents MMS messages from being sent or received on anything except AT&T servers. The only thing I found which may or may not be the culprit in within the AT&T APN there is a text service center address .... 13123149810. If I knew what to change that to I think I just might have a fix.

Once you install a different client, go into it's internal MMS or APN settings, and put in the MMS APN information, it will bypass the phone's APN settings and use the correct ones. Many people are using carrier specific variants on different carriers and it works fine.

Thanks for the suggestion but the very first thing I did when I got the former AT&T phone was to create a new APN with settings given me by the tech support folks at Consumer Cellular. Absolutely everything on the G2 works as it should, including 4G LTE, except Multi-Media-Messaging.

Geezer..... my AT&T S4 on Consumer Cellular updated to kit-kat a few days ago.. The upgrade switched my apn from CC to AT&T. Changed to CC and MMS seems to be working.

My settings on Samsung Galaxy S4 Active with 4.4.2 are. Mobile Data on ... APN= att.mvno, Proxy= 66.209.11.32, Port= 80, MMSC= mmsc.cingular.com, Multumedia proxy= proxy.mvno.ccmobileweb.com, Multimedia port= 80, MCC= 310, MNC= 410, Authentication type= PAP, APN type= default,mms,supl (commas no space)...everything else is none. That is a list of all my settings.

If you haven't been able to get your G2 working on CC yet maybe this might help. Good luck

Found this on another forum, it works for me for Consumer Cellular LG G2 with an AT&T phone that has APN type greyed out and no MMS! Nothing else worked.

It is possible to change the APN type without SQLite or root. The guys at my work figured this out. It is kind of a tricky workaround, but this is tested and working on LG Optimus G Pro, G Flex, and G2 with the MMS issues.

1. Go to the APN Settings and reset them to default. After that you should only see the AT&T APN
2. With the SIM card in the phone open Mobile Networks (get to the screen where you can click on Access Point names.)
3. DO NOT POWER OFF THE PHONE FOR THIS PART! On that screen and with the phone still on, slide the SIM out. You should get a prompt asking to reset the phone. DO NOT RESET THE PHONE.
4. After the prompt click on Access Point Names. There should be no APNs here. If the AT&T APN is still here go back to step 1.
5. Now you need to create a new APN whit the SIM is removed. The APN should be as follows:
Name: CC MMS
apn: ccdata
user: (blank)
server: (blank)
password: (blank)
proxy: (blank)
port: (blank)
mmsc: http://mmsc.mobile.att.net
mmsproxy: proxy.mobile.att.net
mmsport: 80
Mcc: 310
Mnc : 410
authtype:none
APN type: mms
THE APN TYPE SHOULD ONLY BE FOR MMS. DO NOT PUT ANYTHING ELSE IN THE "TYPE" FIELD
6. Now with everything typed in DOUBLE CHECK EVERYTHING. If it is correct you can save this APN. Once it is saved there will still be no APNs on the APN page.
7. Pull the battery (in the case of the LG G2, just power down) and put the SIM back in the phone.
8. Power up. Go back to the APN settings and DO NOT open the APN you just created or it will reset the entire process!!!!! If you did everything right the CC MMS APN you just made should not have the selection bubble. If you have a selection bubble on the CC MMS, go back to Step 1.
9. Make another new APN as Follows:
Name: CC LTE
apn: ccdata
user: (blank)
server: (blank)
password: (blank)
proxy: (blank)
port: (blank)
mmsproxy: (blank)
mmsport: (blank)
mmsc: (blank)
Mcc: 310
Mnc : 410
type: default
10. Save this APN and select it. You should get LTE shortly after that.

That's it! If you want MMS without root this is the only other workaround I know of! This was tested on multiple Optimus G Pro, G Flex, and G2 and is working! Hope it Helps.
