okay folks... i need the help here:

1- i have s=off
2- i cannot root using visionary.
3- i had to do a factory reset but superuser (the ninja) remained but i cannot open it nor can i su into visionary nor titanium
4- cannot uninstall superuser
5- hitting walls left and right with this and what i want is permaroot so i can move on with my life. i thought s=off would afford me that but apparently not. any help would be so greatly appreciated.

thanks

Dave

Okay let's start from the beginning. How did you attain S-Off in the first place and get the superuser app?

What happens when you try to run Visionary?

If you originally did the gfree method then I would use the guide from the unlockr which will rerun gfree and then unroot (even though you say you aren't rooted, just flash the PD15IMG) and then start over.http://theunlockr.com/2010/12/16/how-to-unroot-the-t-mobile-mytouch-4g/

ashykat thank you!!!!!

here is what i did to get s=off - i used this link -> http://www.addictivetips.com/mobile/how-to-gain-permanent-root-on-t-mobile-g2-desire-z-without-adb/

i originally ran that link and got the superuser app prior to succeeding in getting s=off but then once I did everythign and got the phone where I wanted it (removed bloatware etc) I did a factory reset to change the default gmail account with hopes of starting over. when i reinstalled visionary I could not get the device rooted and I kept getting kicked out. superuser didnt help at all and even when I attempted to uninstall the app i could not.

so now i am stuck with s=off and no root. pretty crappy. ill try your link and get back to you

okay so i went in to read that post you left and to try to re-root using your method and i realize that since i cannot root (temproot or permroot)that i cannot get any farther than step one/..... any other suggestions?

Okay so what happens when you try to use VISIONary? Here's what I would do then. Download the PD15IMG.ZIP file (google the file name along with mytouch 4g or something like that to find it. I don't have the link handy). Put that file on the root of your SDCARD and then restart in bootloader. Your phone will automatically find the zip and you just follow the prompts from there. This will return your phone entirely to stock but you will still have S-Off. After you do all of this you should be able to temproot using VISIONary and then follow the steps that I mentioned above, which entails pushing gfree to /data/local, making the file executable and rerunning it, then performing a command which will turn your phone back to S-On. I've done this using a mytouch 4g and had no issues.
