Help Cannot update to 4.1.2

So im rooted, using CWM i tried updating using Voodoo but i remembered i did installed some patch for the volume so it could be pumped up and so the update failed, so is there a way to remove the patch and try to update again?
 
hey drive what version of android do you have right now?
have you removed any apps from the device?
is this an OTA update?
i need more information first and i can have this solved for you :)

Im on 4.1.1 , and no i have not any apps, is just rooted with the patch i mentioned

okay the only way to actually remove the volume patch is to restore a nandroid that didnt have the patch
also the update may be failing due to root (seen it on my phone)
 
when restoring a nandroid you will lose any new data you have added since you made the nandroid (a nandroid is a full backup of the phone taken with CWM using backup) when it backs up it also backs up the data so when you restore it it also restores the data you backed up
to do a restore boot into CWM go to backups and restore and select restore select your backup and let it restore reboot and your all set

Yes yes i remembered that but no, i didnt do a nandroid backup prior to the installation of the patch :(
 
To the OP, you cannot run the update the natural way because you installed a custom recovery. Your options are to flash back to stock recovery, or do what we've all done and download the update to your device and boot into recovery, from there, choose install zip from sd, and the update will install. Thanks but thats exactly what i did first, i got voodoo, i downloaded the update and try to install it through cwm and received the (status 7) error
 
Oh shit, sorry :(

You can backup your programs with TB, and then use the Nexus Toolkit to flash the factory image back onto your device so the OTA installs. I've unfortunately had to do this before.

Thanks again!, so ill be using the mac version of the kit, is there a "flash factory image" option just like that on the tool kit? basically i revert back to unroot to stock and the wait for the ota? is there a way to go back with a rooted os?
 
I'm not on a Mac, just a Windows pc and I'm using Wug's toolkit: Nexus Root Toolkit v1.5.4 | WugFresh

If I were you, and I'm unsure now that I know you're on a Mac, I would flash the factory image, then root and enable the option to install CWM recovery, after that completes I would download the OTA update that I linked you in my previous post to your internal sd card, then boot into recovery and use it to flash the update.

Did you at any time install cwm or twrp recovery to your device?.. if you did, then you'll have to install the update via recovery or flash the factory recovery back to your device.

Sorry if this isn't very easy to understand.

It is easy to understand :) but now the question is, is it worth to update now? i already had screen rotation with ultimate rotation control so i dont see all the trouble worth it or am i wrong?
 
If you ever get stuck in a boot loop and need to get into recovery, you have to plug into a usb device to make it happen. Since the 4.1.2 patch, you can get into recovery without having to do that. Also, the notification window is one-touch expandable, which is kind of cool. Google says that the patch will make the device run better, and I believe them. I really don't think it's something you should pass up on.

Guys i managed to download and install through CWM a revert patch for the audio patch i had installed and then i was able to install the update on CWM....fiuuuuuu that was easier!
 
Man my bad luck just doesnt end, im stuck at the "X" color screen after updating and after it was supposed to update the apps, it got stuck after that and then i rebooted, and thats when this happened, i already wipe cache from recovery and also format everything and still stuck in there...what can i do?

I again am receiving problems with upgrading my Samsung S3 - i9300 phone in that I initially downloaded successfully the Android 4.1.2 but because I had problems with it in that I could not restore my apps from the Play store, nor was I able to retrieve any of my personal contact telephone numbers I have now attempted to revert back to Android 4.1.1. Since copying this ROMOW FOR GSIII from http://www.ibtimes.co.uk/articles/399546/20121030/galaxy-s3-i9300-android411-jellybean-romow-extreme.htm to my external SD card, followed by re-booting I am now faced with a constant spiral of coloured boxes that does not seem to want to stop thus stopping the phone in properly booting up. This has obviously made the phone useless to me, so on that note could someone kind enough advise me how I can resolve this issue please.
