Cannot Verify Gmail

SAG29

Lurker
When I got my Android, I used a new Gmail account so my email would not show up on my phone were it ever stolen. The problem is, I can no longer access my Gmail on any computer other than my own laptop...it sends the verification code to my phone, but when I try to use it, it won't verify. This means I can't access my personal account from my work, or when I am at a friend's, when I need to.

I can't find any forum that discusses this at all, and the 'contact' to Google gives you only 25 characters to explain the problem.

Please help!

You can try to change your verification process to email instead of phone. You would need to login into Gmail and go into settings to "change password recovery options". You can delete your phone number from the new account. I hope this helps.

I would actually recommend 2-step verification. It is a handy tool for security and is pretty easy to set up. Your phone will generate a 6 digit code that cycles every 30 seconds via an app on your phone.

Also, for security on your phone, I'd suggest making a pattern lock. The FBI wasn't able to crack it, I'd imagine your run-of-the-mill thief would be blocked by it, too.
