Cannot view videos I've taken on my camera

Like I've said in another post, the app isn't compatible with my device.

Do you know how I can clear the partition on a tablet? I don't really want to have to do it on a computer, but if it's absolutely necessary...

Do I just search 'mini tools'?

I'll probably just end up doing it on my computer...

I got a new 128 GB SD card, but there's still the partition on it. I didn't know it was for a specific device, I thought it was the SD card itself...

Maybe @lunatic59 or someone like that could help...

I've touched on the risks of budget devices before. This is what happens with a lot of cheap stuff out of China ... they get things to work without consideration for compatibility.

Your camera probably doesn't support 64 GB SD cards which is why it is formatting it to 32 GB (with only 28 GB usable) AND why when you format the card in your tablet you're videos are corrupt -- the camera can't read the file system properly. It's also saving the avi files in an uncommon codec which is why your tablet or Google photos won't read them. VLC covers a broader range of codecs.

I don't know what to tell you here, because you can't make these devices compatible.

No, it doesn't corrupt anymore, it was just because I didn't format it for the camera. I need to clear the SD card partition, because it's supposed to be 128 GB, but I've formatted it some and now it's capacity it 28 GB, it's kind of hard to explain, but I have to tell you this.

I'm NOT wasting my own saved money on an SD card if I can't clear the partition.

Since I can't edit my own posts anymore, I have to type this as it's own post. I already bought it, and got it today, but I out it in my tablet too, and the tablet apparently has a partition. Either I need an app to do it, or I will factory reset. I need this to work and I'm not downloading anything on our computer, because my parents might find out and stop me and discipline me or something. Please, please I need this to work.... Someone...

Weird how I can't edit my own posts...

I know I might sound demanding, I'm very sorry, but I REALLY need this to work.

That is the 128 GB SD card, the partition apparently carries over onto all SD cards, it's not just Chinese things, people have partitions on lots of things, it happens if you were using up a certain amount of storage, and then format the card, then the capacity is how much storage you had left. If all fails, factory reset better work. If it doesn't then I'm screwed. My mom wouldn't understand or believe me because she's not at all into tech, my dad kinda is but I don't think he would understand either...

Ughhhh I'm so desperate... What do I do? Most of the tools need root... Will a factory reset do it?

supposed to be 128 GB, but I've formatted it some and now it's capacity it 28 GB

Like I said, the camera itself doesn't seem to be compatible with larger SD cards and requires that the card be formatted to it's specs or it will corrupt your videos. This is a hardware limitation and you can't workaround it.

This is copied right from the description of your camera on Amazon:

  • CMOS image sensor: Max to 24 Megapixels(1920X1080P),16X Digital zoom camera, Storage media SD/MMC card(4GB to 32GB),Supports standard tripod (please note that the tripod and SD card are not included) .
Your options would be live with using the 128 GB card as a 32 GB card until you get a better camera, or exchange it for a 32 GB SD card. That's really the ONLY options you have.

But it was working fine when I put the 59 GB one in, and I told you, it's the partition, I'm pretty sure the camera can keep using up more than 28 GB, just the tablet's SD card partition is limiting it for the tablet. I don't think there's anything wrong, it's just that I need to clear the partition.

Ugh this is so annoying that I can't edit my posts, I didn't mean to say 'I told you', that made it sound mean! I just wanted to say 'like I said' or something, sorry ☹️

I don't think there's anything wrong, it's just that I need to clear the partition.

There isn't anything wrong, but clearing the partition isn't going to fix it.

Here's what happened. You bought the 128 GB card that was pre-formatted probably as FAT32 and was given the Samsung name at the factory. When you put it in your tablet, it was fine with it and saw probably 112 GB of space. When you put it in the camera, it was able to see the FAT32 file table and use some of it, but because it was 128 GB and the camera only supported smaller cards, it was corrupting the files. So you formatted the card in the camera.

The camera only supports up to 32 GB so it's not going to be able to use anything beyond that so it created a 32 GB volume and formatted it. Now when you save to it, the files are okay, but it's 1/4 the capacity.

You can remove all the partitions using a PC (don't know what's available for your tablet) and reformat it for 128 GB, but you'll be right back in the same boat and your files will be corrupt again.

It's a hardware/firmware limitation of your camera and no amount of formatting or repartitioning is going to change that. You still have only the two options I listed previously. Frankly, you're lucky that the card works at all. In many instances putting an unsupported card will either not show the card at all or crash the device.

It's ok, it's not a fake, it's Samsung. You're talking about the 64 GB one, I just got the 128 GB one today, I formatted it and now it can have 119 GB! I don't know why it isn't 128, but it's much better than what it was.

Well I re-formatted it for my camera, yep now it's at 23 GB, this is annoying. I still don't understand why it's kind of random, 23, 27?

I wish devices could have 2 SD card slots or something so I could move the camera files to the 128 GB SD card... ☹️ (Sad face)

Actually, I could move the files temporarily to internal storage and then insert the 128 GB one and move them back! Yeah! I think I'll do that.

Just be careful. SD memory is notorious for failing catastrophically. You should look into a backup option if these will be files you don't want to lose.

because it's supposed to be 128 GB, but I've formatted it some and now it's capacity it 28 GB, it's kind of hard to explain

Just trying to help, but it's getting confusing.
I've always had to run videos, taken with one of our cameras, through a converter program, to be able to view them on our tablets.
