Cant access files on External SD by apps

Help,

I have just purchased an ARM CortexTM-A8 MID Tablet running Android 2.2 and it is great but I have one major problem...

The external SD (TFLASH) card mounts and is visible to File Explorers but the content isnt visible/accessible to the apps . For example Ive tried a number of music player apps and they either have no way of accessing the External files or can see them but wont play them. However if i explore the External card and select a music trac it will play (on a one track basis) but this is no good for playing Albums or Genres... The USB device behaves exactly as the external card (ie is not properly accessible to the music player apps)....However the MEDIA PLAYER app will explore and play individual tracks fine.. The same is true for e-books work fine on the internal card but not visible on the external (but are there!)

When I connect the Tablet to my PC via USB debugging only the internal SD Card is visible (as device E:) (ie the External device doesnt show as F: as I would expect).

The internal Sd card works fine and mounts as /mnt/sdcard and the external card mounts as /mnt/external and the USB as /mnt/USBcard

As files are accessible via file manager it seems to me that its a Android set up problem rather than a hardware fault..

Any suggestions please as its a great device and I just want to be able to play my extensive music collection (which is too big for the internal sd card)

I have the same problems on Acer ATab. I am hoping that the Astro App, or ES will pick up on this and add handling for both the micro SD and USB drives.

Instead of opening the files from within the apps, go to the external sd card and select the file you want to play and this opens the corresponding app. Similar files open in the same apps and are accessible after initiation. There is no need to download winamp, app2sd or any other player apps. /Hope this helps?
