Note: MY DEVICE IS NOT ROOTED

We just did a hard factory reset on my AT&T LG G-Pad 7.0 410 LTE. I'm trying to add a Google account, but it keeps getting stuck at "Just a sec..."

It's not locked, it's not reporting any errors, I can still use the browser and other pre-installed features if I just skip adding a Google account.

I am the original owner, and my Google account is the original account, although it's not even asking me for that.

I've noticed that all other users reporting this issue have rooted devices, this one is NOT ROOTED. Rooting was actually suggested to me by AT&T (if you can believe that!) But we cannot even gain access to any menues that would allow us to add a custom ROM.

I've tried everything. Multiple Google accounts, removing the device from said accounts, captcha authorization, and even the backdoor method to remove the theft protection through a secondary user.

NOTHING is working, and the device is still under contract with service from AT&T. And it won't even accept a custom boot loader.

Hey Anya,

Well if you wanna root and Install a new custom rom (stable) for you Phone? I can help you out , just let me know in the reply :) ," just a sec " step comes up after you have completed the password step? If it is then you can consider clearing cache for your google play services .

The step isn't actually completing, it's not actually adding the Google account, so there's nothing in the app cache to clear.

The issue is with Google. They've done something to the play store that prevents the connections to be verified with certain versions of the Play services framework. What this does is that if you don't have an existing valid connection, a new one can't be added. If you do, then the app force closes so you can't use the play store. They are aware of it and are working on it. The 'fix' is to update the play store app to the latest version, or wait for Google to fix it on their end.

How was I supposed to update it when I couldn't even it access it? I couldn't do anything with it except use the pre-installed apps and surf the Web. Also, flashing the OS, which adds an even old version of the play store, fixed it.

Which ROM do you recommend, since we can do that now?

Like I said, it's not all versions of the services framework. Only certain versions, so if the original firmware file used a very old version, then that's why it worked. And the first thing that happens is you are updated to the new version, skipping over the broken ones.

It's running 4.4.2, and working just fine.

I'm a newbie.. can somebody explain to me.. again how to fix this, there is certain language here that i don't understand.
If there is a way to backgrade Play Store version then please show me, i would highly appreciate it as i need help ASAP and it is kinda urgent.
Thanks

None of the other standard solutions worked for us. We had to add a new copy of the original operating system that came installed on the device like it was when it first came from the factory. There is a thread here on this forum that can walk you through it, just make that you're using the correct files. Check to see which model you have, v400 or v410 before attempting this method, but hopefully someone can find an easier method for you.

Download this file > http://www.apkmirror.com/apk/google...ay-store-7-3-07-k-all-0-pr-139935798-release/

IF you are using a PC, then copy the .apk file to your phone. Then go into settings>security and enable install from unknown sources. Using a file manager, install this apk and it should update you to the latest version of the play store. Then you should be able to add your google account.

I see what you're
The latest of the play store is 7.3.07. I think you are referring to your android version.
I see what you're saying now. Yeah, we even tried tweaking that by switching to a few versions known to be working, following recommendations on another forum, it didn't work. When I say we tried everything, I mean it! We tried both versions of hard factory reset several times each.

That's very odd, because most people are reporting that updating the play store manually works.

Most people reporting this issue also have rooted devices. I apologize if I had a rude tone but I'm sure you can imagine my frustration! That's one of the first things we tried, as it's quicker and simpler than multiple factory reset attempts.... Anyways, thank you all for you time!

@lunatic59 Where exactly do i paste in the APK on my PC, i mean like.. the folder.

You need to copy that to your phone. Save it anywhere on your PC and copy it to a folder you can access (downloads is usually a good place). Or download it directly to your phone. Then you install it on your phone.

After installing the update, you should probably do a couple things. First open the app in settings>applications and clear the data and cache, then reboot into recovery and clear the system cache. Then give it a try.

It might in fact be related to root, but I'm pretty sure other non-rooted users are having success with the updated play store.
