Cant Apps2SD on froyo ROMs

Well I'm jumping late on the froyo bandwagon and I'm a bit confused about App2sd for froyo, when I load a 2.1 ROM Apps2sd card is fine, but when I go to 2.2 froyo rom runs fine but I cant put my apps to SD. Is there a difference with the partitioning SD card from going to 2.1 to 2.2? I'm thinking maybe thats why its not working.

Thanks my fellow Android community!

Running G1 btw

I seem to recall a rumor that 2.1 could use unix filesystems on the card for apps, and 2.2/cm6 requires FAT32?

I put a 500mb FAT 32 partition on my card for that reason. A bit of swap partition and the rest was ext-based.

so how would I do that can I do it in Recovery via G1 or do I have to do it through pc. I may have to try this with my old SD card.

I've done it both ways at different times; through Amon_Ra recovery and through gparted on the linux box. If you want to keep the data on the card gparted might let you get away with that.

Since you are going to be partitioning the card anyhow, now might be a good time to consider a small swap partition. I've used 32MB and now 50MB and both seem to work about the same for my purposes. My 8GB card looks like:

7450 ext4
500MB fat32
50MB linux swap

I haven't tried the apps-on-card thing again since moving to CM6, so I can't tell you for sure it will work.
