can't boot into CWR, can't boot up into the OS

using a galaxy s2 i9100, i changed my gingerbread rom to the latest rootbox, which is jellybean and another kernel, siyah (forget which version). it booted up but it would sometimes freeze. i flashed it with a new kernel, CyanogenMod Samsung SMDK4210 using heimdall. i've tried other kernels with no luck as well.

now, it won't let me access the clockword recovery and it wont boot up besides hang at the startup screen. i can still put my phone in download mode. i've also tried to put on cf root 5+ (includes cwr) and i still can't open it up, but there are so many version of cf root, i dont know which to pick without being able to access my phone's menus.

any advise?

I am going to move this to the all things root section of the s2 international to get you some more specific help.

yeah, i ended up using odin via vmware fusion. heimdall sucks. my mistake was thinking the custom kernels are entire kernels. so i got the official firmware and loaded the same custom kernel ontop of it and it seems to be running smoothly so far
