Help Can't call 911

You're not using any VOIP type calling, i.e. internet calling, because some of them do specifically state, "No 911 emergency service."

You are actually in North America are you, i.e. US or Canada? Because I tried calling 911 in China, doesn't work, just gives a message saying you can't do that, and to call 110 for police dispatch.

first thing I'd do is call verizon, *226, and get them involved. I was under the impression that even without a SIM, that one could still make 911 calls (not to imply that the SIM is the problem)

Do you actually have service with Verizon, e.g. a current contract? And if not, are they supposed to connect 911 emergency calls? Like FCC regulations or whatever.

The way I see it, you have 2 choices:
1 -- go in to a Verizon Wireless store
2 -- call customer service from another phone (not *226, whatever their 800/888/8?? number is)

or #3:
try their website chat. good luck!

Thanks! I called Verizon technical support. They did a re-set, of what I'm not sure, but I was able to call 911 after that. The police were here in minutes. (Just kidding.)

If you have a 4G device, you are unable to dial *228. You have to call their customer service number 800-922-0204. But I'm glad they solved the problem for you.
