Can't complete step 15 of Sony unlock guide.

For some reason I'm not succesful with step 15 of Sony's own guide of unlocking the bootloader. All previous steps where fine.

Enter

fastboot.exe -i 0x0fce getvar version

, and verify that you get a response back (for example "0.3"). This means your phone is connected properly.

It doesn't recognize the command and just call it invalid. I've tried both android-sdk>tools and android-sdk>extras>google>usb_driver.
