Can't connect to Gear via USB

When I plug my Gear into the USB port, I get the message "Your device's current firmware version is not supported to update firmware."
Software version is V700XXUAMK7.
Any ideas?

Do you have the Samsung drivers installed?

What are you trying to do?

I downloaded the Samsung Drivers 1.5.3. If I watch the installing drivers popup, it appears to go out to Windows Update to find and install the drivers anyway. But it errors out on the installation with the error message above.
I'm trying to sideload a hearing aid application onto the Gear.
