can't connect to home wireless router?

Hi, I am using T mobile Comet (Huwai) cell phone running on android. Since I am trying to save money on cell phone plan, I tried to connect my cell phone to my home wireless router (Verizon Fios). The phone can detect the router but can't connect to it. It just said, "scanning," then "obtaining IP address," then "disabled." If it's successful, it should be, "scanning," then "obtaining IP address," then "connected." I am sure the password is correct. Did I do something to disable this cell phone connection to this router? I think the problem is the setting of the cell phone because others can connect to the router just fine. And this cell phone can connect to other WI-fi network just fine. Does anyone have any ideas? Thanks.

Press the connection and you'll get a "forget" choice. Tell it to forget. That resets the phone to have never tried to connect to that router and you can start again. (If you ever connected to a router with that SSID, but different security requirements, it won't connect until you forget the connection.)

I tried that but it still gave me the same response, "scanning," then "obtaining IP address," then "disabled.
Is the router wpa or wpa2 encrypted?

Does it have mac address filtering enabled?

It really sounds like you have the mac address filtering going on if it does not pop up that password is incorrect.

It is wpa2 encrypted. What is mac address filtering? No, it doesn't pop up "incorrect password."

I use to have this same problem with my little LG Optimus V phone, and it drove me nuts. Changing the channel on the router always fixed it. Hopefully it's that simple of a fix for you as well.

MAC filtering is making it to where the router will only allow connects from MAC addresses that you've manually added. If you go into your phones Settings > About . Status and scroll down you will see your phones Wi-Fi MAC address.

What software do you use to change the router channel? I got the MAC address now. How do I check if my router is filtering out some MAC address? Is this what you mean? Well, this wireless router is from verizon.

Most routers have a web page, usually at an ip address you can put on your home computer, such as 192.168.1.1 That would only be accessible to a computer connected to the router. So I could not put that in and connect to your router.

If you did not set up mac address filtering and you can connect other wifi devices to that router then its unlikely its mac address filtering.

I set mac address filtering up on my home wifi for an extra layer of security but most people do not.

Another possible reason it would do that is android has a setting to reject bad wifi connections.
in the wifi menu on the phone hit menu and advanced see what check boxes are checked.
