Help Can't connect to RSD Lite, TRIED EVERYTHING!

Hi Guys.
Question 1
I have a Milestone2.2.1 and wanted the Cyanogenmod7. so I went to the recovery mode wipe data&cache and then clicked install; update.zip . that didn't work.
E: failed to verify whole-file signature
E: signature verification failed
Install aborted
What would you do here?
Question 2
I can't connect to RSD lite 4.9, I'm doing all the steps right with bootloader 90.78 and stuff.
plz help me

CM7: you need to put the .zip file (the one you download from here: CyanogenMod 7 for Milestone A853 | android.doshaska.net) in /sdcard/Openrecovery/updates
When you are in Openrecovery you go to 'Install update' and select the file (after wiping davlik cache and cache).

RSD Lite: are the Motorola drivers installed correctly?
