I am unable to connect to a shared folder on my Windows 7 x64 maching from my Samsung Galaxy S4 using AndSMB. I can connect to the same share from my Windows 8 x64 computer just fine. I can connect to a share on my Windows 8 computer from the S4 as well. It just doesn't want to connect to the share on my Windows 7 computer. I have tried turning all antivirus and firewalls off, but it still doesn't work. All IP addresses are set with address reservations except for the WAP and Router. I have tried connecting to the share by IP address as well as hostname, but neither works. Please help! I have an all-in-one router/wap/switch/firewall/dhcp server/dns server as the heart of the network. Connected to that via Gbe is my win8 machine and a WAP. Connected to the WAP via Gbe and wi-fi is my windows 7 machine and my S4 is connected via Wi-Fi. It won't let me post an image, or I would post that for clarity.

Here is a simple topology diagram of my network.

Hi

Initial thought is to check that you have disabled DHCP in the WAPs settings (otherwise the router wont know the IP of your W7 machine because the WAP has allocated one.)

I use ES file explorer from the play store. It works very well and has a 'scan' feature that should help. It will find all the points it can connect to and you could use that for diagnosis.

I turned off dhcp/dns on the WAP so the only available device is my all-in-one. This is irrelevant anyway as I'm still unable to connect using just an ip address instead of a hostname. If this was the issue, I also wouldn't be able to connect to the share with my Win8 machine.

Es file explorer is one of the many apps on the Play store that requires unnecessary permissions to install (phone status and identity). AndSMB doesn't require any unnecessary permissions. I am able to ping my Win7 machine, and I can even successfully RDP to it, so I can definitely connect to the computer; I just can't get to the SMB share.
