Help Can't connect to WLAN

I have a brand new GT-15500 from 3 mobile. I am out of signal coverage at the moment so I decided to try out the phone on my home wireless network but can't get it to work. This is what I have so far:

1. I am not in Airplane mode.

2. The name of my network is shown in the Wi-Fi settings screen.

3. The top (Wi-Fi) panel has a green check mark and repeatedly flashes up "Scanning".

4. The second (Network notification) panel has a green check mark and says "Notify me when an open netwok is available.

5. There is just my own network listed: Thompson 82EF2S (Secured with WPA/WPA2 PSK

I enter the PSK when requested but it then asks me for a password. I don't know what to enter here. Could it be the woreless pin printed on the bottom of the router?

Are you saying that the phone prompts you for an additional password after you've successfully entered the WPA/WPA2 passkey? It might be your gmail password it's looking for, although I wouldn't know why.

That's exactly what I mean. I will try the gmail password.

No. Not that.

What about the wireless pin on the bottom of the modem?
Trying ...

I can't see how the phone would even know that existed, unless you have an unusual router that requires a pin and a passkey. Never saw that before, but it couldn't hurt to try.

Can you just temporarily take the security off your router to see if it can connect that way? Perhaps it is looking for a confirmation of the WPA passkey. Have you tried entering that again?

Thanks. I will try that and let you know.

PS Could it be something to do with the fact that I have never yet connected to the 3 mobile phone network? (no signal here.) I will be going out tonight so I suppose that I might get a connection.

I doubt it. Wifi and Mobile networks are relatively independent.

Hi Guys - just wondering, was there a solution to this? I have the same issue and having researched a bit it seems like this was quite a widespread problem even with stock / out of the box Samsung phones.

I too have this issue.

I have a Netgear router with WPA / WPA2 enabled. I also have a work router here with PEAP on it as well and it *never fails* to connect to that one but don't want to be using up work bandwidth on the phone.

If I reboot the router it will get an IP addr via DHCP. After a while though, normally a few hours but sometimes as little as a few minutes, it will refuse to connect again and just sits there in the Scanning / Whatever mode.

I have tried putting the first IP that is allocated into the reserved IP addresses with the MAC of the phone but to no avail, the effect is the same.

I have tried deleting the DHCP lease files out of /data/misc/dhcp/ as well and didn't seem to do anything. Files were recreated once a successful connection was established but did not seem to have any correlation to the root cause of the issue.

So my question(s) are - what is the root cause here and most importantly *what the hell is the fix?*

To be honest, I can't believe that so many Samsung devices were impacted with this type of problem. I work in BIG corporate IT and I put an app / product out with this type of issue, especially on a basic feature to this extent, the whole product team would be walked, including my sorry ass is this kind of crap is totally unprofessional. No wonder so many people gave up on droid phones during that time.

Anyway, if you have any feedback would love to hear it.

Cheers,
S30

Sorry. I thought that I had posted the solution.

It was to use the same PSK as I had already entered in the PSK field. As suggested by lunatic 59, I think. But I can't see the post. Anyway, it worked.
