cant delete Facebook app

Android 7.0

How do you delete an app once you download it from Facebook like this I can't figure it out .It doesn't show in app manager on my S8 plus- or in my FB acct. it was called flash...something

I have zero experience with the s8 do humor the obvious questions

Do you have an apps tab under settings to search for it? You also can go into the play store and search for that app to uninstall it also. IIRC in the play store you should have an installed apps option to view all the apps you have installed

----now this is a GREAT idea=check out teh big brain o n you--but DAM IT i cant remember the name of it--only ...flash....and type that into a search in playstore and 896998 results come up-thanks

If it's the same as it would be on an s5 do the following:
On the bottom right of your home screen open all apps

Find the app

Long press on it and drag to the uninstall tab on top of the page

is an S5 the same as an S8+? it only 3 android versions behind

and as stated in the post - it does not show in app manager- i cant believe this is that hard to remove - but it is
thanks

See the screenshots attached to see what i was trying to say

1. Press on the apps tab ( if your referring to that as app manager, then skip these steps)
2. Long press on the app in question,
3, drag it to the uninstall tab, it's going to ask if you're sure, press ok, add that's all.
If you don't find the app when following the screenshots, where do you find it??

If you don't find it in all apps, but it shows up on your home screen, my only assumption is that it's not an app but a shortcut to the web, (reason for that assumption is that you said the name of the app is not Facebook, also if you'd download it from Facebook they would redirect you to play store and that would give you the official app with real name)

to remove that simply long press and drag to remove tab (similar to screenshots)

Never used Facebook but if you downloaded it from Facebook does that mean Facebook has an app store? If so delete it from there. If it was downloaded from an add on Facebook then God knows, it could be anything. Stupid question maybe, but did you actually install it or just download it? If you've only downloaded it the apk would be in your download folder waiting for you to install. I wouldn't recommend installing though:thinking:

I've been watching this post as brilliant minds are members here .

So far i haven't seen anything that would solve your issue. Google search app inspector.apk. Locate the Facebook app, example Facebook.com.apk

Go to cmd, type adb devices, serial number should be returned. Then type adb shell, next type

pm uninstall -k --user 0 <name of package>

Wish Facebook a farewell and enjoy.

Is root needed? No.
The only way Facebook or whatever app comes back is if you factory data reset.

Don't think you solved it either. Think he wanted to delete something he downloaded from Facebook and not Facebook itself. Since he's downloading stuff from Facebook I'm pretty sure he actually using Facebook so doesn't want to delete Facebook. Anywho I can download various things from various places and unless I actually install them they won't be in the app manager so let's see if he actually installed what he downloaded as he never said ;)

Fair enough, i was just assuming it was preinstalled bloatware as my last 2 phones came with it preinstalled. I know my Stylo 3 plus came with Facebook preinstalled.

I just ran the above commands and removed everything i didn't want.

thanks bachur- but android 7.0 doe not have that icon- only a app manager within settings- this didnt work - but i thank you -not sure if i downloded it or just installed- either way it cannot be found anywhere insthe phone- i willnever do that again-there has to be a way--

again- S8+
android 7.0
app from facebook installed- cant find or delte it

The only option that i see is to do what shotgun said, also if you installed an app but don't see it, how is it in your way that you want to delete it.
Maybe try see in your browser download if it's there and what it's called, and it's location..

Facebook has a lot of advertising for apps, I'm on it alot. You probably we're redirected to a website that did it's thing without really installing anything.
If it's not listed, it's not installed
