can't detect sim card

I just purchased a brand new Andriod phone and it can't detech my sim cards. I need help please, Thanks....

Assuming it's a GSM phone (AT&T, TMobil or their mvnos), bring (or send) it back. (If it's a CDMA phone - Verizon, Sprint or their mvnos, the SIM card it uses isn't the one to connect to the carrier, it's for data, and you can't use a GSM SIM card.)
