Help Can't download applications from Play Store - Samsung Galaxy Note 2

I got a new Samsung Galaxy Note 2.
The issue is that the downloading of applications from Play Store is not happening. It shows downloading and keeps on showing that. I don't think it's taking too much time because even an app having size as low as .89 MB is also doing the same. It also shows "Ongoing" in notifications, even if you disable "Mobile Data"

After going through some posts, I came to know how to stop the Notification. But still I am not able to download any applications.

Someone please help me..

Welcome to Android Forums.

Go into Settings | Apps | All | Download Manager and clear data and cache. To the same thing for downloads. This normally clears up this problem.:)

Thanks for the feedback. When I did this, that notification was gone, but still I couldn't get the app downloaded.
Anyways, finally working out so many things it worked; I don't know exactly what worked; but I know this works (had done this in another Note2 also)

1. In Application Manager --> Forcefully stopped, Google play, media, download manager then cleared data and cache for each of these.
2. Did a soft reset on the phone (switched off the phone, removed battery for more than 30 seconds and switched it on)
3. Logged in to google talk (white "talk" icon) first and then logged into google play (somewhere in googleplay troubleshooting help page I read this that you need to first log in to google talk.)
4. downloaded the app and it worked.

This is one of the oddest things I've heard. Google Talk shouldn't have any effect on downloading apps from Google Play...but glad it worked for you.
