Help Can't figure out split screen

Hi, I recently bought a cheap Kyocera Android phone, and I can't figure out split-screen.
I know that the phone already has the ability, because I've accidentally done it a few times, but that's as far as I've got.
I don't want to go through the whole rooting process and whatnot, but I'm dying to be able to split screen.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Try this:

Start up your browser and now hold down the recent apps button until it pops up and you should have a split screen. (Recent apps button should turn into 2 rectangles)

On the bottom screen select another app and you should, (if compatible) have split screen. Turn the phone for full effect.

To exit split screen hold down the recent apps button again. As noted some apps do not work with split screen, such as banking apps they simply log you out, Dolphin browser kicks you back to the home page.. etc
