Help Cant find ICS zip in stock recovery

I recently moved from an X to the Bionic. I have rooted it and really am enjoying it especially with the lapdock. How......ever I am trying to install the ICS 4.0,4 zip. I downloaded the file and put it on my sd card root. I unrooted the phone then went into stock recovery but I cant find the file! I also noticed that many files don't show up in recovery. I have checked to make sure the file is on the sd card and it is there.

Any suggestions.

TIA

did you put it on your sd or sd-ext.

Now that is a good question. I put it on the SD Card. I don't know what the SD ext is

The "SD ext" on the Bionic is the external SD card. The other SD card is the internal...dumb, I know.

DFIB is right, put it on the "SD ext" card :)

so I need to move the file to the sd card because I have acutally put it on the sd-ext?

it needs to be on the sd-ext card not the sd card. the sd card is actually the internal (moto) card and the external sd card that you put in the back of the phone is the sd-ext card.

... well it is even a little more confusing then that. The application you are using may use the term SD card when it really mean SD-Ext ... so it depends on the application being discussed.

"SD Card Naming" in ... http://androidforums.com/motorola-droid-bionic/438060-bionic-reference-terms-links.html ... attempts to remove the confusion.

(BTW this was done on purpose. They wanted a removable SD card [SD-Ext] without forcing the rewriting of thousands of existing applications.)

Thanks guys. I will adjust my thinking. Now that I have the file in the sd card ext I can't seem to get it to flash. It keeps aborting. Any suggestions?

I read that you are rooted. If there is any modification to the system such as bootstrap or safestrap, foreveroot it will not flash the update. You can flash the modified stock 5.9.902 fxz file here http://androidforums.com/bionic-all-things-root/480176-how-flash-5-9-902-rsdlite.html this will keep all your data but put your phone back to stock. let the update to 5.9.905 download and install then flash the ics in stock recovery. if you want to root again do it after the ics update and use this file here. http://t.co/mbIAmwH8
