What on earth!!?? WWhy is it so hard to find Kies? I've tried googling it, I've tried links from several posts on this site...... no go. All I get is Page Not Found, or I end up at some pdf manuals. Why??

Ever thought about going to the Samsung website?

Yes, I did.... I wasn't aware Kies was a firmware update...... What I was looking for is desktop software. This is my first smart phone and I have NO idea what I'm doing! Like TOTAL newb!
Is there anything I should know about downloading/installing Kies? Will it install any kind of software that will allow me to access/interact with my phone?

I had exactly the same problem, googled, searched the samsung sites of various countries, some pages failed, can't remember what i did in the end. Will try to find and post a link.

Try this one:

Samsung Galaxy S - Software & Manuals - Support - Samsung Mobile Australia

But not on IE8, it wouldn't let me, trying to tell me i was using IE6??????

Also I tried the uk site to be met with lots of 'error opening page's. But suspect internet is being restricted more than usual here right now.

It's not you, don't worry.
