Root Can't flash a Kernel

regkeg

Newbie
Running Mik Supersonid 3D and wanted to try a different Kernel. Tried 3 different ones, Chop Suey, GoldenMonkey and Aggressive Freedom, and each time it said I was now running the new Kernel but when I rebooted it hung up and I couldn't reboot, power down or anything. Each time I tried something it only stayed off for a couple of seconds and then came back to the recovery screen but I couldn't do anything.

I could catch it momentarily while the power was off and do the volume down/power thing and I could then do a restore of the nandroid backup I did before I started.

Any ideas?? Back to the stock Kernel that came with 3D but am scratching my head.

Been doing some more reading around here and in one spot it says to wipe Dalvik cache, Cache and data which is what I'd been doing.

After reading another thread it said to wipe Dalvik Cache and Cache so I tried that and didn't wipe data and it now works and I'm trying Chop Suey.

To flash a new rom you need to wipe cache,davlik-cache and data but to just flash a kernel you need to wipe cache and davlik-cache. If you wiped all 3 then you erased the whole rom and will need to reflash the rom first and then flash the kernal.
