Root Can't get Elite to install Zv5

So it's my gf's phone now. And she had problems with a LOT of random reboots. Did a fresh install of Sleipnir and everything several times. Did a factory reset. No help. So I did tjsanders unbrick method with the LG Flash Tool. I'm on Zv4 now. And it is unactivated now. (Not a problem) and so when I tell it to reboot to install Zv5 it hangs and just has a black screen with the backlight on. Nothing happens. Any ideas??

... welp. The unbrick method is an Uber Factory Reset of sorts. And it's kind of a last resort. Not all hope is lost just yet, however. This might fix all of the problems you were having, even with the random reboots and such: install CWM if it's gone, and clear the /cache and dalvik-cache thrice, then go to Advanced -> Fix Permissions. Perhaps do it two or three times, but at least once. Then try rebooting. That's my only guess.

The reason for this is that the firmware updates are on their own partition, and I'm guessing that either that partition corrupted, is the wrong size for some reason, or something else happened. Fix Permissions in CWM tries to reset the partitions to their default configuration.

Well I got it to install. But now the Mobile Data doesn't work and I reactivated with the Activate app. But in Settings and About Phone then Status shows the phone number as 000-000-5059 which is all incorrect. So what now? I don't remember the MSL either I used to have for it.

Ugh I hate this phone! Lol I attempted to remember my MSL and it rebooted from 2 failed attempts. And then the phone was fine. I guess it worked to reboot it lol.

Okay, I hope I am not too late and you took your phone in... YOUR ANSWER is simple....

First, is your diag port enabled? Dial ##3424# to enable it if it does not show up on the computer. Plug it in and connect with cdma workshop 2.7 demo. Then go to the security tab and tell it its a LG and read your MSL...

Now go to your dialer and put in ##VIRGIN# click on edit and fix your problem! The MDN is you phone number and the MSID is the other number Virgin Mobile gave you at activation. Don't remember just call and they tell you again. Anyway, finish telling your phone its number and it will reboot and everything is back to norm.

EMERGENCY BACKUP INSTRUCTIONS

If you aint rooted and you cant get port open and msl is still outta reach and everything is conspiring against you... Don't trip I got this too!

Get somewhere that will give your phone internet via wifi or itself. Then go to your browser and get to filecrop. Get LG_OE_DiagMode_Debug apk then Poot-debug apk and last Ministro2 apk. Run them in that order and your port will be opened, you will be rooted and ready to plug into cdma workshop for your MSL.
