I went into the hotspot settings earlier and changed the wireless AP name since it was really long and now when I try to turn the hotspot, it fails after a few seconds and says "Checking subscription status" and then says "Data connection not available". I don't get it. I got it to turn on once before I changed the AP name. Why won't it work now?

Yep, that's exactly right. As soon as I changed the name, my phone was dropped off the network. I called tech support and he had me change the APN to something else and it started working again. The lesson here is, don't change the default APN!
